If LHC fail to prove, what would be next for the physics?

If LHC measurment results do not approve the already available standard model in physics, then what would be the future of physics?
Is there any replacement for this theory? Does really the available way of thinking in physics come to its end? May be we need some new theories toward the univers model and its scientific explanation. think out of the box ...

Soleil Visit

Within one of the comming months i would be at Soleil Synchrotron to finalize the designs for the Booster and Storage ring of SESAME. Alreay Soleil colleagues have helped us alot in different parts of the project. Particularly in this trip i would be discussing with Beam Diagnostics Group at Soleil different aspects of our strategy for the Diagnostics of the accelerator during commissioning and normal operation.

Microtron Commisioning

Tonight at 00:36 AM we could get the first successful commisioning of the microtron. This was one of my happy times was surprising for me. Almost after three nights we could succeed to extract the beam from this touchi microtron.... infact also this was my first succesful commisioning of an electron accelerator.

BESSY last week has sent some module for the microtron trim coils local controllers free of charge to SESAME. This was a move to support once again this project while the whole injector, microtron and booster (valued about 25 MUS$) already was a gift from that giant facility in Berlin. A pulsed power supply also has been recieved from Soleil-synchrotron in Paris on May 2008, together with many beam lines equipments form Stanford, SLAC.

SESAME (Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Sciences and Applications in the Middle East) inagurated on the 3th of november 2008 with the presence of UNESCO general director, Koichiro Matsura, and the embassadors of member states. We were preparing till the last minute the microtron and its subsystems in order to be ready for operation on the day, but due to some reasons, it was not possible to do it...
SESAME is a modification of the bessyI machince which was working already till 1997 in Berlin, Germany. In fact SESAME is a generous gift of Germany to the middle East to promote scientific cooperation and peace in that region. After the proposal of Guss Voss of DESY and Herman Winick of SLAC, German government gifted the whole injection system and booster to the middle East scientific community free of charge, it costed at that time about 25 M$..

LHC CERN

LHC tests are started at CERN on wednesday 10th of spetember. I think many accelerator colleagues and physics comunity all around the world are waiting for the experiments resulta comming out in the next months...
Apart form all the excitement of the scientific comunity around this big universal event, but seems there has been some oppositions in the US and even in Europe concerning the start up of this great experiment at CERN....

Synchrotron Workshop

in the last week workshop on the synchrotron radiation users meeting, when i was talking with one of my Iranian physicists concerning the situation for a scientific project, he noted me a nice proverb with this meaning: " Mice escape before the ship sink".
so when you see the mice are escaping from the ship you should also escape :-))

Lovely Paris

For the last few weeks i have been in the beautiful city of Paris. I have learned some few words in French, and may be i would go through a real learning of this language.
I have visited also some great places like Eiffle-Tower and Champse-Ellyssee (which is very famous in Iran). I also visited the Notredam and experienced some nice hospitality of french. I try to write some useful sentences in french in the next post.

Back from India

Just came back from my trip to India to participate in Asian Particle Accelerator APAC conference in Indore central India. We had some posters also updating our works.. The confrence was good organised and we enjoyed a warm (I mean warm) weather and nice hospitality of RRCAT institute of India. I also had the opportunity to see the live Indian traditional dancing of good performance. The food were very spicy ofcourse and the people very friendly.
I had twice visit inside the INDUS-2 storage ring, a very impressive work has been done by the physicist and engineers there, from the point which almost a big percent of equipment and technology was in-home tech.
INDUS-2 is a 2.5Gev and 300mA with a circumference of 172.47m. It has an Injector of 20MeV microtron and a booster of 450-550 MeV which will be used also for the injector of another ring INDUS-1. rf cavities all in one straight section independently fed by klystrons via coaxial waveguides. It is in the commisioning phase up to 38mA and 2.4GeV has been filled till the last week.
India was a different land from lots of point of views. The weather, foods, culture and natural views. However i did not have enough time to go around.

We had a technical committee a few weeks ago, had some comments on my report, one on the kicker Ti coating thickness and also on the possibility to change the repetition rate of booster to 3 Hz from already 1 Hz in order to increase the injection performance and also to have the chance in using white circuit (!)-in case- to supply the magnets.

Barcelona is a nice city

Came back from my trip (a semi-scientific visit) to Barcelona last week, a very short visit. Barcelona was a beautiful city with wonderful people. I liked it walking in the main street with a friend, actually i forgot the street's name. It was at the end connected to mediteranian sea..
I think I should go for at least a week just for holiday to barcelona later.

well i went to EPAC afew weeks ago in Edinburgh. Edinburgh was a very nice and different city unlike the crowdy manchester. I wrote fully about my trip to the UK, Edinburgh and epac conference in my persian blog..
Actually since two weeks i have some problems in my emails inboxes, i have not received some of friends emails last weeks sent me. They were upset why i did not reply, while i did not get any. but in the otherside sometimes in one day i get 30 junk emails of viagra,ciallis,...

EPAC06

A friend of mine sent me some photos from the first solar-powered personal car designed and manufactured in Tehran university, about 450Kg and cost about 1000 mRialls(100 kUS$) was very intersting indeed..
..Well I will have a trip to France in the comming months and probabely (not sure) a trip to Scotland for the EPAC 2006 confrence end of June. Scotland is famous for its scottish Whisky i guess.. This weblog will also be updated more frequently later.. working on a draft and later in detailed electromagnetic design the Septum and kicker magnets for the injection to the storage ring.

I have been very busy last week, since i shoud finalise my technical designs after aproval by project technical committee, we should prepare for call for tenders. The call for tender goes internationally mainly to European and Iranian firms. Working on the mechanical pieces with tolerances to the order of 10 microns is not an easy task, so the manufacturer should be chosen carefully.

Venisia

Went to Venisia this monday, It was sunny and some how moderate, actually it was one of my best touristic visit ever I have had. Went by a relatively big boat to the venise centre and then walked around inside the center. Everybody should visit this nice Italian city at least once in life.
Our CAS school lectures have been relatively relaxed compare to the first days, but still difficult to follow the lectures completely.

Between lunch and poster seccion of DIPAC conference ive got enough time to bring my coffee here in the cyber room and write these things. ive arrived Lyon sunday and the weather is about fantastic. ive learnt actually some nice french words in my communications with the french participants. ive seen some of my colleagues from different labs and got familiar to some new particle accelerator persons. it has been great opportinuty to learn alot of things in a short time. ive got to go to the poster seccion.

There is a persian proverb says: " Universe has ear and eyes"
also there is another one says: " The wall has mouse, and mouse has ears"
It was not so easy to optimise the dipole magnet design with gradient and saturation fields, also give the results to beam physics person, to see how much harmful are the multipoles. It is still not finished, though i think the yesterday design would be good enough from the multipoles effect on the dynamic aperture.

many times when i write a paper or report, then look at the size, it is too big to send it easily by email or even the conference administrators dont like to get a big word file. this was the case with my report today. so i found a very nice way to make my 3Mb file to 350kb , i described the golden method :-) in my persianblog(http://varnasseri.blogsky.com). goodbye big files ;-)

My visit to DAFNE accelerator in Frascati of Italy afew months ago was a great opportunity for me apart from my works, to understand how the borning of accelerator technology goes back to 40 years ago. DAFNE was like a museum of accelerator which you could find the electromagnets and rf cavities of almost 3 decads ago. Also the first storage ring in the world was in the open area of the center, It was made by Italian scientists before the 70 s(I think). Here is the website of INF.

Still i am working on my papaer at Dipac2005, actually edditing a paper sometimes is harder than writing the paper itself. DIPAC this year will be on 6-8 June in Lyon,France. This will be my first visit to Lyon. may be i will have a visit to CERN as well, since the place of conference is very close to CERN in Switzerland.

Today after a hard work, eventually i finished my dipole magnet design. actually the most time consumming part of the work was the Gradiant fining and also making near zero the harmonic poles...
but i have alot of work still to do, as soon as my blogsky persianblog will be ready to use, i will start to write there...
