SESAME (Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Sciences and Applications in the Middle East) inagurated on the 3th of november 2008 with the presence of UNESCO general director, Koichiro Matsura, and the embassadors of member states. SESAME is a modification of the bessyI machince which was working already till 1997 in Berlin, Germany. In fact SESAME is a generous gift of Germany to the middle East to promote scientific cooperation and peace in that region. After the proposal of Guss Voss of DESY and Herman Winick of SLAC, German government gifted the whole injection system and booster to the middle East scientific community free of charge, it costed at that time about 25 M$..
